Little Victories Lead to Big Results!
At every tutoring session, I see lots of little victories. And even after 30+ years in education, I can’t pick a favorite age or grade to tutor. They’re all amazing!
Every subject is fun to teach, but I do have a special affection for tutoring math and phonics. I enjoy watching math students’ eyes when they figure out how to do a problem. And I love seeing beginning readers’ faces light up when things click!
I want students to feel comfortable and excited about working with me. I don’t believe our learning sessions need to be rigid for students to have great results. Although I set the bar high for achievement, and can support the most challenging academic lesson plans, my students and I still have a lot of fun working together.
My wide-ranging background includes teaching third grade in San Jose and fourth grade at Liberty School in Petaluma, plus teaching art appreciation, substituting for K-6 grade, and being a classroom aide and special education aide. Whatever students’ ages, grades, or learning issues, I want them to know I have their backs and am always rooting for their success.
As a tutor, there’s nothing more thrilling than seeing my students take charge of their education, create good study habits, and have confidence in themselves. I love seeing them excited and proud of their accomplishments!
